Starter decks
Playable nowYour first deck. You pick one at your Curator's Office.
You can do this now.
Choosing one
Build a Curator's Office and it offers you the decks whose cards have all been submitted. A deck still waiting on its artists is marked coming soon and says how many of its cards exist so far. You cannot change your mind later, but nothing is locked away: every card in the other three can be got the normal way.
What they have in common
- 30 cards and a deck master, all cheap enough for a new player to play.
- No combos. Every card does something on its own.
- Each one teaches you a few keywords.
The four
Each has its own page below with every card in it. They are not perfectly balanced against each other, and all four can win a practice match at the Arena.
What is still open
Still being decided- What you get if a starter card is ruined before you can afford another.
- How the artists in a starter deck are chosen.
The four decks
- TidepoolMana, high fantasy
The slime deck. Slow and hard to get rid of: cheap minions that leave something behind when they die, and a deck master who heals one of them every turn. It is also the cheapest of the four to keep, because its cards do not die as often.
Sticky swarm, Death triggers. Teaches Guard, Death, Skirmish, Reach, summoning, and what dying costs.
Deck master: Viscara, the Standing Pool, by CathryneDelamort.
- Marble and AshStone, antiquity and myth
The stone deck. It puts a wall in the way and waits: everything in it is hard to kill, and a battle that runs out of turns is won by the defender. It is the one starter deck built on defence.
Defensive control, defence, removal. Teaches Guard and how it scales, defence, Reach, conditional removal.
Deck master: The Unfinished Caryatid, by CathryneDelamort.
- Signal LossGlass, the future that actually got built
The glass deck, and the fast one. It flies over Guards, and it carries three pieces of equipment for three different slots, so one minion can wear all three at once.
Equipment tempo, flyers. Teaches Equipment slots, Flying, Reach, stripping abilities.
Deck master: Vesper, Last Operator, by CathryneDelamort.
- Not submitted yetThe Long CommuteCoffee, the ordinary modern world
The coffee deck: no magic, no monsters, no armour, just people who are very good at their jobs. It draws more cards than the other three and plays out of two Locations.
Card draw, Locations, one Reaction. Teaches Hand economy, Locations, Reactions, Guard, Reach.
Deck master: The Night-Shift Manager, still to be submitted by an artist.
