Signal Loss

Designed, not built

Glass. The fast one, built around equipment and flying.

Planned, but not built yet. There is no date for it.

How it plays

It flies over Guards and hits hard. Its three pieces of equipment are worn in three different slots, so one minion can carry all three at once.

Its minions hit hard and die easily, so it wins quickly or wears out.

Hot Drop: the first Equipment you play each match costs 2 less, to a minimum of 1

Deck master 30
Vesper, Last OperatorRare

Vesper coordinates equipment drops through the surviving pieces of a broken communications network. She can get a crew armed quickly, provided they listen to her instructions and stop touching things that are still connected. The dead channels are frustrating, but at least nobody on them asks her to repeat herself.

The 15 cards, two copies of each

  • 1st ed.·StandardCathryneDelamort

The antenna is part of her spine, so stop adjusting it.

    Minion 2 1
    Signal GirlStandard

A courier with a spinal antenna and a satchel of recorded messages, delivering information through places where the network no longer reaches. She travels light and hits harder than people expect. Trying to intercept a private message becomes much more personal when the receiver can elbow you in the throat.

    Flying.

Someone gave a bird a targeting system and called it progress.

    Minion 1 2
    Kestrel UnitStandard

A small flying machine built in the shape of a woman, light enough to perch above the street and watch for trouble. She uses height to stay clear of enemies stuck on the ground. Throwing something at her confirms both your hostility and the location of your head.

On arrival: give a friendly minion +1/+1

    Minion 2 3
    Splice TechnicianStandard

A field mechanic who repairs and improves her companions by opening whatever panel provides the shortest route to the problem. Her work makes them stronger and more durable. She is very reassuring about the procedure, especially once the patient has lost the use of the arm they might have stopped her with.

  • 1st ed.·StandardCathryneDelamort
    Minion 2 4
    Bulwark ChassisStandard

A broad armoured body designed to occupy a passage while people attempt to remove it. She is heavy, difficult to damage, and equipped to make close contact unpleasant. Finding a weak point takes patience, particularly when the weak point you keep presenting is your own face.

    Flying.

Your wall looks very expensive from up here.

    Minion 3 4
    InterceptorStandard

A combat flyer built to reach trouble quickly and attack from above. Walls and ground patrols offer little reassurance when she can simply bank over them. There is something especially dispiriting about surviving the dangerous climb onto a fortified position and discovering that she has arrived comfortably.

  • 1st ed.·StandardCathryneDelamort
    Minion 5 2
    Ordnance HandlerStandard

She carries a weapon large enough to make everyone nearby concerned about her training. It delivers considerable force, and she prefers to get it into use immediately. Her protective equipment is much less impressive, suggesting that whoever approved the purchase stopped reading after the word “weapon.”

    Guard.

Moving her requires taking the floor with you.

    Minion 3 6
    Anchor FrameStandard

A heavy defensive frame that locks herself to the floor and braces against incoming force. Once secured, she is extremely difficult to shift out of a corridor. Demolition may eventually remove her position, but describing that as “getting the door open” is generous to your original plan.

    Flying.

She appreciates all the money you saved on roof security.

    Minion 5 5
    Vault RunnerStandard

An experienced rooftop flyer who crosses dense streets by gliding between the buildings above them. She reaches places that ground security considers inaccessible and is quite capable of fighting when she arrives. A locked penthouse is wonderfully private until someone remembers it has windows.

    Reach.

Flying was an excellent idea until someone invented a hook.

    Equipment, Body 2 2
    Grapnel LanceStandard

A telescoping weapon with a magnetic head, originally useful for pulling distant wreckage within reach. It also gives its bearer an unpleasant answer to things attacking from above. Anyone wearing metal while flying has helpfully combined the target and the handle.

    Equipment, Body 2 3
    Kite HarnessStandard

A wearable frame of fabric and struts that lets its user take to the air. It provides lift without providing judgement, training, or any improvement to the ground below. The first successful launch is often celebrated a little too early by someone who has not yet attempted the other half.

On arrival: deal 2 damage to a minion

    Equipment, Body 3 2
    Munitions PackStandard

A carried ammunition system that feeds additional firepower to its bearer and makes an immediate impact when brought into action. The drum is heavy, the fittings are awkward, and the ammunition is extremely real. Helping someone put it on is a touching expression of trust in their trigger discipline.

    Give a friendly minion +1/+1

The guy who set the limit is gone anyway.

    Action
    OverclockStandard

A machine’s output is pushed beyond its usual operating limits, making it stronger and harder to stop. The adjustment is quick and the improvement is immediate. The engineer who chose the original limit presumably had concerns, but those are difficult to hear over how well everything is currently working.

    Jamming FieldRare

Concentrated interference scrambles a target’s specialised functions and delivers a painful shock. Whatever impressive trick they were relying on stops being a useful contribution to the fight. They are welcome to continue describing what it normally does while everyone else takes advantage of the demonstration.

    Summon a Signal Runner

    Action
    Salvage BeaconRare

A bright signal marks recoverable wreckage and calls in a runner to help retrieve whatever remains useful. Equipment, information, and loose valuables are all worth checking. If you wanted the arriving crew to care more about your injuries, you should have activated something with “medical” in the name.

While it is in play: your Equipment costs 1 less, to a minimum of 1

    Location
    The Last RelayEpic

A surviving transmission mast keeps equipment requests moving through a network that has lost most of its infrastructure. Crews within reach can organise supplies with much less wasted effort. This makes the tower indispensable and gives whoever maintains it an extremely unhealthy amount of confidence during billing disputes.

She calls it salvage because “stealing it while it’s hot” takes longer.

    Minion 1 1
    Signal RunnerStandard

A lightly equipped courier who arrives at salvage sites ready to carry messages or recovered supplies. She is quick, practical, and careful about where she puts her hands. The wreck can still be hot, and dropping something valuable because you screamed is how amateurs handle a profitable afternoon.
