When cards get damaged

Losing a raid on an Overgrown Gallery at level 2 or deeper damages cards. Each card destroyed in that battle drops one grade, and so does your deck master.

  • A card drops at most one grade per battle, however many times it was destroyed.
  • Winning damages nothing. Neither does level 1, or a practice match in the Arena.
  • A deck master never drops below Fragile.

The grades

Pristine
Full stats.
Fine
Three quarters of each stat, rounded up.
Worn
Half, rounded up.
Fragile
A quarter, rounded up.
Ruined
Left out of every battle, and cannot be repaired.

Rounding up means a stat of 1 stays 1 until the card is Ruined. A deck with a Ruined card in it still counts as full, but fights a card short.

Seeing the damage

  • A small round exclamation mark beside the rarity shows the card is damaged. It is amber at Fine, orange at Worn, red at Fragile and dark red at Ruined.
  • A stat lowered by damage is printed in the mark's colour.
  • Point at the mark or a lowered stat to see the grade and the card's stats now.
  • Scuffs and creases show at the card's edges, over the corners of its artwork and in its ability box, and get heavier with each grade.
  • A Ruined card is torn, its artwork turns grey, and it says Ruined where its stats were.
  • Click the artwork to open the card's details, which explain its condition and what to do about it.
  • The card's details name the grade and show the undamaged stats beside the damaged ones.

Repairing a card

Open Repair cards at a Curator's Office. A repair takes a card back to Pristine and costs mana from that city, for each grade it dropped:

Standard
2 mana a grade.
Rare
5 mana a grade.
Epic
10 mana a grade.
Legendary
25 mana a grade.
Unique
25 mana a grade.

A card in a deck can be repaired where it is. A card on an Art Gallery wall has to be taken down first. A Ruined card cannot be repaired: take it out of the deck and recycle it.

Several copies of one card

  • Each copy has its own condition.
  • Adding a card to a deck puts in your best free copy, never a Ruined one. Taking one out removes the worst.
  • Use your best copies, beside Save in the deck editor, swaps worn copies in a deck for better spares.
  • A damaged card on an Art Gallery wall supports fewer people, at the same share as its stats.

Your art is not damaged

What wears out is one player's copy of a card. The artwork is untouched, and new copies are printed as good as new.
