Settings

Playable now

Your account, notifications, email, time zone, appearance and your advisor, on one page.

You can do this now.

Your settings

Where they are

Settings sits under your own name in the menu. Nothing on it is shown to other players, except your display name.

Your account

  • Your display name, which you can change once every 30 days.
  • Your password, and connecting or disconnecting Google and DeviantArt.
  • Links to your public profile and to edit it.

Notifications

Notifications tell you when something needs your attention. They go to your phone or your computer, even when the game is not open.

  • Message received: your Diplomat has brought you a message from another player.
  • Building finished: a construction, upgrade or demolition in one of your cities is done.
  • Pack ready: a pack printing in an Art Studio can be opened.
  • Research available: you have banked enough research points to start something new.
  • Shipment arrived: ships carrying resources have reached the city you sent them to.
  • Supply line waiting: a supply line has waited 6 hours for a free ship.
  • A raid is coming at you: another player has sent a deck at one of your cities. It arrives when its fleet does.
  • Raid ready to fight: a deck you sent to play by hand has reached the gallery and is waiting for you.
  • Raid home: a deck you sent to a gallery is back, with whatever it carried.
  • Store full: a city has filled up on a resource, so it is digging for nothing.
  • Above the safe line: a city holds more of a resource than its Storehouse protects.

Each box is for your whole account. Turning one off stops that kind everywhere, and turning it back on says nothing about what you missed. A build you finish early yourself sends nothing.

Turning them on for a device

  • Every device is separate. Turning them on at your computer does nothing for your phone, so press the button on each one.
  • Your browser asks you to allow notifications. If you refuse, only your browser's own site settings can undo it.
  • On an iPhone or iPad, add Art Empires to your home screen and open it from there first. Safari does not offer notifications in an ordinary tab.
  • Nothing that finished more than 12 hours ago is sent, so switching this on does not fill your phone with old news.
  • When you start a build with more than 5 minutes to go, or send a deck to a gallery, and this device is off, the game offers to turn notifications on. Press No thanks and that device is not asked again.
  • Once a device is on, you can send it a test notification or turn it off. If the test fails, it says which part is broken: the game, the push service, or your device.
  • To stop a kind everywhere, untick its box.

Email

  • Your art became a card: a piece you submitted was accepted into the card pool.
  • Your feedback: when the status of feedback you posted changes, or somebody comments on it.
  • New releases: what changed in the game since you last played, when a new version goes live.
  • Announcements: news about the game that is not a release.
  • Reminder when you are away: one email when you have not played for a week.
  • Account deactivation warning: a warning before a long-unused account is deactivated and its cities leave the map.
  • Untick a box to stop that kind. Unsubscribe from all unticks every box.
  • Before you stop the deactivation warning, the game asks you to confirm. Cancel keeps it. Cancel during Unsubscribe from all keeps only that one.
  • Every email has two links near the top: one stops all email, the other stops that kind. Neither needs you to sign in.
  • The first time you use a link, within 7 days of the email, it signs you in and opens your settings. After that it still unsubscribes you, without signing you in.
  • Confirming your address and resetting your password are always sent.

When emails arrive

  • Your art became a card: a few minutes after a curator accepts it.
  • New releases: when a new version goes live, listing every change since you last played.
  • Reminder when you are away: once, after 7 days without playing. If you are away longer before it can go, it is not sent.
  • Account deactivation warning: 14 days or more before the date it names. Signing in once cancels it.
  • Announcements: when the team writes one, and only to players who already had an account.
  • You get each email once. Nothing is sent to an address you have not confirmed.

Time zone

  • Every date and time in the game is shown in the zone you pick here.
  • A new account starts on the zone your browser is set to. If it cannot tell, it uses your country, and otherwise America/New York.

Appearance

  • Dark or light. The choice is on your account, so it follows you to any browser you sign in on.
  • Before you sign in, the game uses whatever your computer or phone is set to, and the button in the bottom left corner changes it for that browser.
  • Signing up keeps the one you were already reading in.

Advisor

  • Choose who your advisor is. The tips are the same whoever you choose.
  • Show tips in game screens puts the advisor's box at the top of every game screen. Turned off, your advisor stays in the menu bar.
