Appraisers and Warders
Playable nowSend Appraisers to look at another player's city, and Warders to catch theirs.
You can do this now.
Training them
- Appraisers train at the Appraiser's Office, one per level, for 400 gold each.
- Warders train at the Art Gallery, one per level, for 400 gold each. They guard that city and never leave it.
- Both need research first: Appraisal for Appraisers, Gallery Watch for Warders.
Sending Appraisers
Open another player's city and send Appraisers from one of your cities. They need no ship and take as long as a ship would to get there. Only you can see them coming.
Nobody under new-player protection can send Appraisers or be visited by them.
Missions
- Inspect building levels: every building in the city and its level.
- Inspect storehouse: what the city holds, and how much a raid could take. Needs Inventory Audits.
- Inspect deck: some of the cards in the defending deck. Needs Catalogue Reading.
- Find weak points: your next raid on the city within 12 hours meets its Town Wall with less armour. Needs Surveying.
Each mission shows its chance first. More of your Appraisers in the city raise it and each Warder there lowers it. You can try the same mission again after 30 minutes.
Bribes
You can spend 5 platinum for each 5% extra chance, up to 4 times, on the three inspect missions. The platinum is spent whether the mission works or not. Find weak points cannot be bribed.
Getting caught
A mission that fails may be caught, and Warders make that likelier. A caught Appraiser is shown the door and does not come back.
- Kept quiet: the other player learns an Appraiser was caught, and nothing else.
- Hired away: their gallery offers the Appraiser a job, and they say which city they came from.
Discretion, Sealed Credentials and Lifetime Retainer make your Appraisers less likely to be hired away. Headhunting makes the ones you catch more likely to be. Catches are listed on your Art Gallery page.
Hanging your defending deck
Designed, not builtCards hanging in your gallery are meant to be easier for Appraisers to see, so hanging your defending deck will tell people what you have. Today a deck report reads the deck whether or not it hangs.
