How a battle works
Designed, not builtYou send a deck, the game plays the match, and you watch the replay.
Planned, but not built yet. There is no date for it.
You are not there for it
You choose a deck, how it should play, and how much mana to send with it. The game plays the battle out and you watch what happened afterwards. Nobody has to be online at the same time as you.
Where you can see these rules today
Playable nowNobody can be raided yet. What you can do is play a match at the Arena, which runs these rules against a deck you choose and costs nothing either way.
The rules of a match
Playable now- Both sides start with 5 cards, and may put up to 3 of them back and draw again before the first turn.
- Your board holds 8 things at once. Minions and locations share those spaces.
- You can have 2 locations in play, and only one copy of each.
- Each turn you get one more mana than the turn before, up to 10, and draw a card.
- You win by reducing the enemy deck master to zero life. There is no turn limit.
- Once your deck is empty, every draw damages your own deck master instead: 1 the first time, and 1 more each time after.
- A card that aims at a random minion rolls for it, and the roll is part of the match, so a replay picks the same one. When one card does two things to a random target of the same kind, both of them happen to the same minion.
- The defending side may stand behind a Town Wall, drawn between the two boards. Until it falls it is the only thing an attack can hit, except a flying minion going past a wall with no Reach. It has attack and defence, never attacks, hits back when attacked, and no card ability can target it.
Mana
Attacking costs you mana from your city. You send a fixed amount with the deck, and when it runs out you cannot play cards even if you have the mana for them in the match. Defending is free.
Practising
The Overgrown Galleries on your island is a computer opponent you can raid for resources and gold. Levels 1 to 4 are playable.
